朴槿恵(パク・クネ)大統領と現政権を誹謗した“落書き事件”を捜査している警察が、地方自治体から数千名に及ぶ生活保護受給者の名簿を提出させていた事実が15日確認され論議が予想される。

キム・ジェヨン統合進歩党議員がこの日公開した資料によれば、光州(クァンジュ)地方警察庁保安課保安捜査隊は3月24日、光州市内の5か所の区庁に公文書を送り「1985年1月1日から1965年12月31日までに生まれた生活保護受給者(男性)の人的事項など関連書類を提供せよ」と求めた。

これは3月15日に光州東区の「アジア文化の殿堂」建設現場とカトリック センターの外壁など
12か所で「朴槿恵政権は退陣せよ」「国家情報院の不法選挙介入」「独裁政権は退陣せよ」などの内容のスプレーによる落書きが発見されたことに伴うものだ。

警察は防犯カメラ(CCTV)に撮影された容疑者の推定年齢および似た人相着衣の男性が
「生活保護受給者証を見せた」という目撃証言などを考慮して、30代から50代の生活保護受給者男性の“全員の個人情報”を要求した。

これに対し5つの区庁のうち3つの区庁は該当受給者の名簿と住民番号、写真などが記載された2968人の個人情報を警察に提出した。光山区庁と南区庁は「個人情報流出の恐れがある」として提出を拒否したという。

大々的な“底引き網式捜査”にもかかわらず、警察はまだ容疑者を検挙も特定もできていない。

キム・ジェヨン議員は「単純に落書き犯を捕まえるために警察が3000人に及ぶ生活保護受給者の個人情報をむやみに収集したことには深刻な問題がある。

事件の容疑者が大学生だとして、特定地域の大学生全員の身元を漁ることとどこが違うのか」と批判した。さらにキム議員は「その上、警察のこのような措置は生活保護受給者を潜在的犯罪者、ないしは反政府人物と烙印する先入観まで作用した過剰捜査」と指摘した。

突然死んでしまった朝日新聞社に対する秀逸な弔辞です。

We hereby express our deep condolences to the death of the evil media

that had left the false report about so-called “Comfort Women”

for 32 years long 

 

Dear (poor) Asahi Shimbun,

 

We could never imagine that the day would actually come when you, the Asahi Shimbun (hereinafter “Asahi” or “you”) abandons your pride as one of the biggest mas media in Japan in such a manner.

This farewell came so suddenly that I can harly find any words to say.

We can never forget the Asahi’s last word released on August 5.  You all of sudden carried special articles entitled “Observation about the 'comfort women' issue” which was written in the form of responding various questions over your "comfort women" related reports in past. 

You have once reported the confession of Mr. Seiji Yoshida who claimed that he was directly involved in carting off Korean women violently to make them serve as "comfort women" for the Japanese soldiers in the Osaka HQ version of your paper on September 2, 1982 as the leader of the "comfort women" issues. 

“The total number of the Korean women that Mr. Yoshida and others carted off reached at least 950.”  Such report was widely spread all the world over and consequently Korean Government has been seeking compensation and apology from the Japanese Government on the assumption that it was a fact.

 

However, you Asahi, suddenly and shamelessly changed your story and explained that;

“The confession of Mr. Yoshida that he had carted off Korean women from Jeju Island in Korea to make them serve as 'comfort women' was totally false.  Therefore we decided to drop our relevant articles.  We were not capable enough to detect his lies at that time. We went to Jeju Island again for fact-finding but we could not find any evidence that support Mr. Yoshida’s story.”

 

Asahi, we can’t understand why you left Mr. Yoshida’s confession which caused serious foreign affairs against Japan for 32 year long.

I would assume that it was because of your stubbornness. Not only that, you have confused the difference of “volunteer corps (teishin-tai)” and “comfort women (ianfu)” without listening to the advice of others in ’90.

“When it went into the Pacific War, Japanese Army carted off women, especially Korean women in the name of the ‘volunteer corps.’  The total number of the carted women is said to have reached 80,000 or 200,000.” (January 11, 1992)

It took more than 20 years for you to withdraw this false article.  This sure is Asahi, just like you.

 

In the article on August 5, you also shamelessly stated that;

“The 'female volunteer corps' was totally different from ‘comfort women.’  The former was work force mobilized to munition factories or others during World War II.  We misapplied those words because there was no deep research about 'comfort women' issues yet at that time and there were the same misapplications in the materials our reporters referred.”

We have to take off our hats to your obstinate nature that you still insist that it was just a “misapplication,” not “falsity” without expressing any apology.  

 

On August 11, 1991, there was a “scoop” in the Osaka HQ version captioned

“Can’t help but shedding tears even now… former Korean comfort women finally open their lips after a lapse of 50 years from WWII”

which was actually a bogus story made up by Mr. Takashi Uemura who was formerly a reporter serving for you  (Note: Uemura left Asahi in March 2014).  He just listened to the memories of “comfort women” recorded in a tape made by a supporting group in Korea but did not make any actual coverage by himself. 

 

You used to be regarded as a “Quality paper” and used to lead the public opinions in Japan all the time.

You still have a circulation of 7.6 million every day and maintain extraordinary influence in Japan and overseas.

Since you kept citing Mr. Yoshida’s story total 16 times so far, the “comfort women” issue was widely spread and known by people in Korea.  The Korean Government and the comfort women supporting groups in Korea have been deploying harsh criticism against the Japanese Government as a diplomatic issue with such a strong boost from you, great Asahi.

 

Korean people are actively setting up what they call “the statue of a comfort woman” these days not only in Korea but also in the United States with a monumental inscription that says

“200,000 Korean girls and women were carted off by the Japanese Army to make them serve as sex slaves for the Japanese soldiers….”.

 

In 1993, the Japanese Government made a fatal mistake: they expressed apology and remorse toward former "comfort women" even though there was no written evidence was found (so called “Kono Statement”).

 

In 1996, the report filed by Ms. Radhika Coomaraswamy who was a member of UN Commission on Human Rights pointed out that the “comfort women” was a sex slave system.  The “fact” of the "comfort women" carted off by the Japanese Army is officially added to the junior high school text books of history both in Korea and Japan.  The students were brought up to think that such enormity of the Japanese Army was a true story.

 

It has been 135 years since you were established.  Please do not hesitate to sleep permanently as long as your mission in Japan has finally completed.

「“朝日新聞”への弔辞」 “慰安婦誤報”を32年間放置したメディアの死に弔辞を送る

まさかこんな形で、朝日新聞が、大マスコミの看板を下ろす日が来るとは思いもよりませんでした。
あまりにも急な別れで、言葉もありません。
忘れもしません。8月5日に突然、「慰安婦問題を考える」と題して、慰安婦報道に寄せられたさまざまな疑問の声に答えたのが、最後の言葉でした。
あなたは過去に、“慰安婦問題の先鞭”として、強制連行に直接、携わったという吉田清治氏の証言を、82年9月2日大阪本社版朝刊で紹介しましたね。
〈吉田さんらが連行した女性は、少なくとも九百五十人はいた〉こうした発言は世界に発信され、韓国は、今も既成事実として、日本に謝罪と賠償金を求めています。
ところが、この期に及んで、読者に向けてこのように説明しましたね。
〈吉田氏が済州島で慰安婦を強制連行したとする証言は虚偽だと判断し、記事を取り消します。
当時、虚偽の証言を見抜けませんでした。済州島を再取材しましたが、証言を裏付ける話は得られませんでした〉

なぜ32年間も外交問題に発展した発言を検証もせず放置してきたのでしょうか？　
理解に苦しみます。
それもこれもあなたの頑固な性格が招いてしまったのかもしれません。90年代には、周囲の指摘に耳を貸さず、「挺身隊」と「慰安婦」の違いを混同したこともありましたね。
〈太平洋戦争に入ると、主として朝鮮人女性を挺身隊の名で強制連行した。その人数は8万とも20万ともいわれる〉（92年1月11日付）
これも20年以上が経過してからようやく釈明したのですから、あなたらしいやり方と言えます。
〈女子挺身隊は、戦時下で女性を軍需工場などに動員した『女子勤労挺身隊』を指し、慰安婦とはまったく別です。当時は、慰安婦問題に関する研究が進んでおらず、記者が参考にした資料などにも慰安婦と挺身隊の混同がみられたことから、誤用しました〉
最後まで謝罪をせずに“誤用”と言い切るのですから、その意固地ぶりには脱帽です。
91年8月11日の朝日新聞大阪本社版では、元朝日新聞の植村隆記者が韓国の支援団体が聞き取りした元慰安婦の体験談を、録音テープを聞いただけで、
「思い出すと今も涙　元朝鮮人従軍慰安婦　戦後半世紀重い口開く」
という“スクープ記事”に仕立て上げたこともありましたね。
かつて「クオリティペーパー」と言われていたあなたの発言は、常に世論をリードしてきました。
今でも販売部数760万部を誇り、その影響力は国内外に絶大なものがあります。
あなたがこれまで16回も吉田証言を取り上げたことで、慰安婦問題は韓国でも広く知られるようになり、韓国政府や慰安婦支援団体は、「天下の朝日新聞」に背中を押されて、「外交問題」として日本に痛烈な抗議を展開しています。

今では韓国内だけではなく、米国にまで慰安婦像が設置され、「日本軍が強制連行して性奴隷にした20万人の婦女子が慰安婦に──」などという大風呂敷を広げた主張が碑文に盛り込まれ、世界中に喧伝されています。
93年には日本軍による強制連行を裏付けるような文書は発見できなかったにもかかわらず、元慰安婦へのおわびと反省の意を表して、政府は河野談話を発表しました。
96年の国連人権委員会のクマラスワミ報告では、慰安婦制度を「性的奴隷制」と指摘されましたし、日韓両国の中学歴史教科書にも、「慰安婦強制連行」が書き加えられて、子供たちは日本軍の “非道行為”を学びながら育ちました。

 

創刊から135年、「社会の公器」としての役割を終え、どうか安らかにお休みください。
